This season marks Alber Elbaz’s 10th anniversary at Lanvin. Whoa time flies! It seems like it was just yesterday that the designer was struggling to make a name for himself at Yves Saint Laurent.
Things have changed… In 1o years, Elbaz brought a new life to the centennial couture house and a new shape to women. The draping, the pleating, the frills, the peplums that he showcased in the last years are now part of Lanvin’s DNA.
For Fall 2012, the designer presented a collection full of joy and colour, but also texture and sophistication. If the first 8 looks were an ode to the colours of the rainbow, he quickly followed with darker looks that were as interesting thanks to the richness of the textures and ornamentation. I especially loved the varied the black & white looks, the use of leather and fur, and the beautiful bejewelled dresses…

Since Alber Elbaz is celebrating his 10 years at Lanvin, I thought it would be interesting to look back at my favourite fashion from the past 5 seasons, which is when I really started to love his work.

I especially loved this collection and I was lucky enough that it inspired Alber Elbaz’s collection for H&M, so I could actually wear one of the beautiful spring 2010 silhouettes. My favourite dress from Lanvin for H&M was definitely the flower print asymmetrical dress with the puffy sleeve… remember?
Of course, I had to buy it! I wore it to my Christmas party that year (sorry for the crazy background, the theme was psychedelic 60’s…)
So did you like Alber Elbaz’s collection this season? And what was your favourite Lanvin collection in the past years? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
