I’ve never owned a watch! For the watch lovers out there, you are not going to like this… but I always thought that « just » giving the time wasn’t a big enough argument to buy or wear one. I also had issues in terms of style, the ones I actually wanted were too expensive and the ones I could afford were definitely not stylish enough!

So when I was invited to Cupertino for what was going to be the official Apple Watch announcement, I was (beyond) excited about the new device, but still skeptical whether I was going to like it…

Let me tell you that after Tim Cook’s presentation, I was IMPRESSED! Not only was this object beautiful, but it was obviously going to offer me more than the time! For the first time in my life, I was actually considering wearing a watch… I just needed to try it to see how it worked for me.

And that’s what I’ve been doing for the last month and half…

WHAT I LOVE

1. The hardware

Let me start by telling you that I chose the 38mm case in stainless steel with the Milanese bracelet… and those are my first fave features of the watch! I love the size of the case because it’s feminine, the stainless steel because it’s modern and the adjustable bracelet strap with magnetic closure because I have small wrists and it fits perfectly!

I’m also chose this model because of its versatility. As you know, fashion is a major part of my life and it was absolutely essential that the watch fit my ever-changing style… and it does! I’m telling you, I’ve worn it with everything: from chic Grand prix outfits to evening dresses, and everything in between!

2. The Activity app

I’m not proud to say it, but I haven’t been very active in the last few months. I went from training 3 times a week, to barely going at all 🙁 So wearing a watch that’s been reminding me that I’m not reaching my activity goals on a daily basis is probably the best incentive I need to get back to my old self. And it’s already working. In the past weeks, I’ve biked and walked more… just to reach my goals!

Because I work on my computer most of the time, I also love that my watch tells me to get up and move a little every hour. Not only is it good for my body, but it’s also good for my brain. It’s amazing how more productive you are when you take your eyes off your screen every now and then!

3. The new ways of communicating

This is without a doubt my favourite thing about the watch! And I’m not only talking about the quick message reply, that allows you to answer directly on your watch by either: choosing one of the suggested replies, sending an animated (and oh so cute) emoji or recording your reply.

The biggest and best change is how the watch allows me to be less on my phone and more present when I’m in a meeting or an event… while never missing an important call or email! Leaving my cell in my purse cuts away a whole lot of distractions and let me tell you that the people around me also beneficiate from it! When an email comes in, the first few words appear on the screen, so in a quick glimpse I know if I absolutely have to read it. I can then move away from my group and answer on my phone.

Same thing for a phone call. If it’s really important, you can head to the bathroom and return the call, without anybody noticing you’re leaving for that reason. It just makes communication in a social setting more subtle!

WHAT I WOULD CHANGE

This part would’ve been totally different 3 days ago, but Apple just announced what’s coming our way with watchOS 2 at the WWDC15… and I found out that 2 of the main issues I had will be resolved next fall!

My first problem was that we couldn’t quick reply to emails like we do for messages, and my second issue is that we couldn’t use a personal picture as a watch face… but both my wishes have been granted, and I couldn’t be happier!

Now… I just have to wait for fall to arrive!
