BCBG-fw14-finale

BCBGMAXAZRIA was my first show at NYFW and I have to say it started off the week quite well! Since the brand was celebrating its 25th anniversary this season, it was the perfect occasion to revisit some of their signature work… starting by some great graphic colour blocking! I especially loved the chic ponchos that gave the collection a 70’s bohemian vibe.

Lubov and Max Azria also incorporated some very interesting artsy prints, something we had seen in their Spring 2013 collection. I loved the long sleeved maxi-dress, but my favourite look was the reinvented track suit that featured fur and leather details.

The strongest statement of the Fall 2014 collection was definitely the fur, which was used everywhere… from statement vests, to collars and accessories. By the way, can I tell you how happy I am about the return of the muff!!

And then came the luxurious textured fur sweaters that looked absolutely amazing with the gaucho pants (another big trend this season) or the layered tunic + pants. This second look was one of my favourites on the runway. I just loved the modern layering and minimalist silhouette.

The most interesting use of the fur came at the very end of the show. Whether it was added on a dress or on a skirt, I loved the modernity of the looks.

I have to finish with this Yeti inspired Mongolian fur coat! I’m not sure it was my favourite piece, but it had everybody in the room tweeting and instagraming!

The soundtrack for this anniversary show was Coeur de Pirate‘s cover of « Ain’t no Sunshine » (her new album for the TV series Trauma is now available on iTunes) and the beautiful « Murakami » by Made in Heights (that you absolutely HAVE to discover). Here’s the full show!

Happy 25th birthday BCBGMAXAZRIA!
