Last night, award season ended with the most prestigious ceremony of all : the Oscars! Although it is known to be a little safe, I was still looking forward to the red carpet… which ended up being bolder than usual! Here’s the proof…

BEST DRESSED

1-Janelle Monae in custom Ralph Lauren

I’m always excited to see Janelle Monae and her signature black & white looks… but when I saw her in this shiny silver number, my jaw dropped! I love everything about it… the cut of the skirt, the futuristic vibe & the veil-like hoodie! I mean… look at this close-up!!

2-Cynthia Erivo in Atelier Versace

Cynthia Erivo also gave us a moment with her stunning Atelier Versace gown! I love the volume of the skirt contrasting with the corseted asymmetrical bustier.

3-Saoirse Ronan in Gucci

I know this won’t be a popular choice, but I stand by it because I think there’s something so beautiful about this black & white half peplum top & the full lavender skirt. Modern and romantic!

4-Mindy Kaling in Dolce & Gabbana

I wasn’t expecting Mindy Kaling in my top 5… but this look (styled by Jessica Mulroney) was to die for! Not only is the saffron stunning on her skin, but the silhouette magnifies her curves!

5-Natalie Portman in Christian Dior

Natalie Portman definitely made the most powerful statement of the night in this custom Christian Dior look! We can’t see it right away, but the inside lapel of her cape was embroidered with the names of fellow female directors that were snubbed by the Academy this year. Just beautiful!

Biggest risk (that payed off): Kristen Wiig in Valentino Couture

Once again, you probably won’t all agree with this one, but I thought Kristen Wiig looked sensational in this Valentino haute couture number. If it wasn’t for the gold pumps and the mesh sides, she would’ve made my best dressed list!

Most authentic : Billie Eilish in Chanel

The proof that it always pays off to stay true to yourself! Especially love the half-gloves + nails!

Most adorable : Julia Butters in Cristian Siriano

She impressed us alongside Leo in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood & she definitely wowed us last night on the red carpet. How adorable is her bubblegum pink dress by Cristian Siriano?

Best dressed man : Timothée Chalamet

Many thought that this Prada ensemble was way too casual for the Oscars, but I love it! First of all, it’s made of recycled nylon… and it’s perfectly tailored! Plus I love that he completed the look with a crisp white shirt & a Cartier brooch!

Best duo : Keanu Reeves & his mom

Like we didn’t already love him enough…

WORST DRESSED

1-Lea Seydoux in Louis Vuitton

I know this look was made of sustainable fabric, and I really appreciate that part! But I have to be honest here… the dress really looks like a chic tablecloth.

2-Penelope Cruz in vintage Chanel

I’m sorry but there’s something sooo tacky about the puffy mullet skirt & that pearl beltchain. p.s. When you wear a dress that is made for a taller woman, you don’t make it worst by wearing Mary Janes!

3-Salma Hayek in Gucci

I’m starting to think that Salma Hayek has one of the worst fashion tastes in Hollywood… I mean, she has access to the most prestigious couture houses in the world, and she wears a bridal inspired dress that isn’t properly hemmed!

4-Laura Dern in Armani Privé

I ADORE Laura Dern & I’m so happy that she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in Marriage Story, but this tasseled dress is just a no-no for me!

5-Sandra Oh in Elie Saab

Oh no she didn’t… (when ruffled sleeves are too much for me… there’s definitely  a problem)!

So, did I get it right? As always, don’t hesitate to let me know what you think!
