Emmys2014-bestof

After the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday, we had another HUGE red carpet last night at the Emmys… and this time it was all about colours! Here are our fave… and least fave!

BEST DRESSED

1. Camila Alves in a Zuhair Murad dress & Aldo clutch

Once again, Camila Alves kills the red carpet! Without any doubt, our best dressed of the night. And how cool is it that her bag is Aldo?

2. Lizzy Caplan in Donna Karan Atelier

Lizzy Caplan was a close second in this beautiful two-toned (a trend that was very present last night) gown by Donna Karan Atelier.

3. Michelle Dockery in Rosie Assoulin

To me, this was one of the most interesting dresses of the night. Absolutely love the bustier and the use of colours.

4. Louise Roe in Monique Lhuillier

Louise Roe was one of the few celebs that opted for a print… and it payed off!

5. Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sarah Hyland look so pretty on the red carpet! And she was probably the only one who wore the full skirt well (see worst dressed)…

AND OUR SPECIAL MENTIONS GO TO…

I usually just choose one special mention, but all four could’ve made our best dressed list!

Kerry Washington in Prada/ Mindy Kaling in Kenzo/ Sarah paulson in Armani Privé/ Cat Deeley in Burberry

THE COLOURS OF THE NIGHT

RED

Red was definitely the go to colour of the night and most of these ladies did well in choosing it!

Love: January Jones, Giuliana Rancic and Octavia Spencer

Hmmm… Claire Danes & Uzo Aduba

WHITE

White was equally present at the Emmys, but in way more simple dresses.

Love: Michelle Monaghan, Padma Lakshmi, Kristen Wiig

Hmmm… Angela Bassett & Julianne Hough

COBALT

I’m not crazy about Viola Davis’ choice, but the 2 other dresses are stunning! BTW… great improvement Edie Falco!

SILVER

Loved all the silver dresses, especially Hayden Panettiere in Lorena Sarbu. This is how we do mommy-to-be red carpet!

MIDNIGHT BLUE

Midnight blue was the most elegant hue of the night. Who wore it better: Julia Roberts!

TWO TONED

The two-toned dress was also a trend last night and we especially liked Teyonah Parris’ Christian Siriano number!

RAINBOW

I can’t say I love all these styles, but I definitely appreciate the vibrant colours that really stood out on the red carpet.

WORST DRESSED

1. Lena Dunham in Giambattista Valli Couture

The concept was good, but the execution… Plus, is it just me or does she look like a doll on acid?

2. Mayim Bialik in Oliver Tolentino

Poor Mayim Bialik thought it was 1760 and that she was going to the ball…

3. Christina Hendricks in Marchesa

The Mad Men beauty shows us that a dress can look cheap… no matter how much you pay for it!

4. Dascha Polanco in Johanna Johnson

I feel bad that nobody told her that she is BUSTING out!

5. Taissa Farmiga in Honor

Does anyone else agree that the dress + the lace skirt don’t exactly mix well?

Did we forget anyone?
