Wow, time flies! Can you believe it’s already the last award show of the season? Well, let’s get to it… here are all the looks you need to see from the 2015 Oscars!
BEST DRESSED
1- Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph & Russo
When I saw Gwyneth arrive in this gown, my jaw dropped! Not only am I in love with the beautiful pale pink colour, but how stunning is that flower shaped asymmetric sleeve?! I would’ve dropped the earrings… but who cares, she still looks breathtaking!
2- Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein Collection
Lupita Nyong’o wasn’t up for an Oscar this year, but she surely looked like a nominee! This custom-made Calvin Klein creation made with 6,000 pearls is just exquisite and so original! WOW!
3- Rita Ora in Marchesa
I haven’t been a fan of Marchesa in the last few seasons… but I have to say this midnight blue gown with a gold embroidered bustier is really something! And Rita Ora wears it so well… especially with the platinum hair!
4- Jennifer Aniston in Atelier Versace
I think this is the first time Jennifer Aniston is part of my best-dressed list! I’m not saying I love the hair and/or makeup, but this Atelier Versace beaded dress is mesmerizing! I love how the front panel showcases her beautiful legs!
5- Jennifer Hudson in Romona Keveza
I’m usually not a fan of such simple dresses, but I couldn’t take my eyes off Jennifer Hudson in this pale yellow Romona Keveza gown! The fit and the colour are simply perfection!
Special mention to…
Keira Knightley who finally got the maternity red carpet thing right in this Valentino dress!
And I HAVE to mention Lady Gaga in custom Azzedine Alaïa. At first, I didn’t like the dress, but then I realized that it was only because of the horrible red gloves… If she hadn’t worn them, I would’ve loved this look!
BEST JEWELRY
Statement necklaces were a big trend last night, but no one did it better than Cate Blanchett. The turquoise stunner from the Tiffany and Co.Blue Book 2015 Collection is just beautiful over this simple Maison Margiela black dress.
Here’s a picture of the necklace, so you can really appreciate the intricacy of the beading.
BEST REMAKE OF A CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD LOOK
Is it just me or did Margot Robbie (in Saint Laurent) go for the Michelle Pfeiffer Scarface iconic look?
BEST MAKEUP
This year at the Oscars, it was all about the triple « F » (fresh flawless face)… Who is your favourite: Sienna or Keira?
BEST HAIR
Emma continues to give us great ideas for in-between lengths and Rita shows us that the pixie platinum trend is far from over (yay)!
BEST MEN
I’ll give Common best look, Jared Leto most original (but I hate the shoes) and Eddie Redmayne best tailored!
BEST COUPLES
A lot of couples wowed me on the red carpet last night, here are my 3 favourite duos… (how great do Faith Hill and Tim McGraw look!)
BIGGEST TRENDS
Colour
Thank you Solange Knowles (in Christian Siriano), Scarlett Johansson (in Versace) and Emma Stone (in Elie Saab) for giving us a little bit of colour on this rainy red carpet. We can’t wait for spring!!
Barely there
After the vibrant hues, here are the nudes! If Karolina Kurkova (in Marchesa) and Oprah Winfrey (in Vera Wang) looked stunning in their gowns, I wasn’t as crazy about Jennifer Lopez (in Elie Saab) and Zoe Saldana (in Atelier Versace). They both looked beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but I’m tired of JLo’s plunging necklines and I wish Zoe’s dress was strapless
Pretty & sparkly
Like in every award ceremony, sequins were a big thing… fortunately for us, the glitter was subdued and oh so elegant! Love Carmen Ejogo in Houghton, Faith Hill in J. Mendel and Julianne Moore in Chanel.
Black & white
While Patricia Arquette (in Rosetta Getty) and Reese Whiterspoon (in Tom Ford) went for classic b&w, Marion Cotillard gave it an interesting twist in this Christian Dior Couture dress (absolutely love the back of the dress)!
Square necklines
I wasn’t exactly expecting this trend, but I think it was interesting. Naomi Watts (in Armani Prive) and Jamie Chung (in Yanina Couture) both looked great, but Sienna Miller knocked it out the park with this beautiful Oscar de la Renta creation!
High slits
Jessica Chastain and Rosamund Pike (both in Givenchy) prove that high slits can be sexy and elegant. But when the slit goes up to your hip (and you add a plunging neckline to the equation) like Chrissy Teigen (in Zuhair Murad), you might fall in the slutty lane…
WORST DRESSED
1- Nicole Kidman in Louis Vuitton
I don’t know what I hate most… the cheap fabric, the Flintstone scalloped hem or the red belt? Or maybe it’s the horrible clutch… or the shoes? Whatever it is, the result is a total disaster!
2- Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen
How do I say this? She looks like she lost a bet and had to wear her mom’s 80’s prom dress! Honestly, I can’t believe Sarah Burton made this…
3- America Ferrera in Jenny Packham
Is it just me or the boobs look like they want to go their separate ways? This has to be one of the worst necklines ever!
4- Gina Rodriguez
Well I guess it wasn’t a good night for the latinas… I know this dress was made by Red Carpet Green Dress with sustainable material, but it doesn’t excuse the horrible fit! And who still wears a scarf this way?
5- Viola Davis in Zac Posen
Where do I start… the neckline makes her shoulders look wider and her bust seem flatter (already a bad combination), the pleats sitting right at the hips make her look heavier and the colour (even on her dark skin) is dreadful! Euh… and what is that necklace?
And our worst dressed man of the evening: Will.I.Am… who found out he was going to the Oscars 20 minutes before the show and couldn’t go back home to change (that’s the only explanation I could find).
As always… let me know what you think!
