Oscars2016-bestdressed

Is it already Oscar time? It feels like Award season just started yesterday… Anyways, the most glamourous red carpet of the season delivered, and here are the biggest standouts of the night!

BEST DRESSED

1- Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé

Once again, Queen Cate conquered the red carpet! I absolutely love the colour, the silhouette and the flower appliqués on this beautiful Armani Privé gown! And the Tiffany & Co. earrings are the perfect complement…

2- Charlize Theron in custom Christian Dior

Charlize is another of my all-time red carpet favourites! In my eyes, she simply can do no wrong… and she proved it again with this custom Christian Dior dress!

3- Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell

Lady Gaga didn’t only give us one of the Oscars’ most powerful moments (you HAVE to see her performance for best song), she also had one of the best looks of the night. Her Brandon Maxwell white jumpsuit makes me want to get married again!

4- Saoirse Ronan in custom Calvin Klein

Saoirse Ronan absolutely wanted to wear a green dress to honour her Irish roots… and Calvin Klein created the most perfect dress for her to do so. Absolutely perfect!

5- Priyanka Chopra in Zuhair Murad

This is how we do sheer! With elegance and a pretty dose of tone on tone embroideries!

Best improvement in Award season: Rooney Mara (in Givenchy)

I have to give a special nod to Rooney Mara, who almost made our top 5 after giving us a few very disappointing looks in the last awards shows! This Givenchy dress is perfect on her delicate frame.

Best dressed man: Jared Leto (in Gucci)

I know I’m going to get a lot of flack for this one, but in the sea of classic tuxedos, this Gucci suit, worn with a rose instead of a bow-tie was really refreshing!

Cutest guest: Jacob Tremblay (in Armani)

From one heartthrob to another… we have to mention Canadian cutie Jacob Tremblay in Armani. His tux was one of the best of the night!

Best couple: Chrissy Teigen & John Legend

I always love seeing couples on the red carpet… and last night, no duo looked more in love that Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.

Best baby bump: Emily Blunt (in Prada)

Even though Chrissy Teigen could’ve also won this, there was something even more perfect about this Prada dress… probably the empire waist and the pretty pastel pink.

Best Colour: Louise Roe (in Christian Siriano)

Talking about colour, I absolutely adore this peachy blush shade… and the dress is not bad either!

Best embroideries: Amy Poehler (in Andrew GN)

I’m not crazy about the shape of the dress, but I think the embroideries are absolutely beautiful! What about you?

Best accessory : Brie Larson

Same thing here, the dress is not my favourite (because of the neckline and the frills), but I’m in love with the stunning belt!

Best back: Olivia Wilde (in Valentino)

If Brie had the best belt, Olivia definitely had the best back! The pleated wing-like detail over that sheer back was just dreamy…

Best hair: Olivia Wilde

Olivia also had the best hair of the night… her braided chignon complemented the Valentino dress perfectly!

Best makeup: Rooney Mara

Continuing in the beauty department, I have to give Rooney Mara best makeup of the night. The brows are amazing, the lips are perfect… and the porcelain skin is on point!

Best Oscar impersonation: Margot Robbie (in Tom Ford)

Every year, someone tries to emulate the golden statuette… and this time around, the best efforts go to Margot Robbie. The dress is a little 80’s, but she looks great in it!

Oscars2016-besttgold-margotrobbie

Best princess impersonation: Alicia Vikander as Bella

It was hard not to notice how much Alicia Vikander looked like Bella in The Beauty & the Beast last night… unfortunately it wasn’t necessarily a good thing because it also meant that her Louis Vuitton dress looked like a puffy yellow cake…

WORST DRESSED

1- Whoppi Goldberg

I don’t like saying this because I love Whoppi, but this is probably the worst dress she could have chosen for her shape (and for her tattoo). It’s just too medieval and matronly… and those bracelets do not help in any way!

Oscars2016-worstdressed-whoppigoldberg

2- Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren

There’s no other way to say this, Kate looks like she wrapped her body in a very shinny garbage bag… or that she melted her collection of vinyls to make a dress!

Oscars2016-worstdressed-katewinslet

3- Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior

I don’t know how she does it, but Jennifer Lawrence always seems to pick the worst Christian Dior look from the previous runway collection. Here, the lingerie-inspired lace looks cheap and the trompe-l’oeil corset wires that start at her nipples are just weird!

Oscars2016-worstdressed-jenniferlawrence

4- Kerry Washington in Versace

I don’t know about you, but I feel the top and the bottom of this dress are not supposed to go together. Plus… the leather bustier fits weirdly, and the high-slit is unnecessary!

Oscars2016-worstdressed-kerrywashington

5- Rachel McAdams in August Getty

Of all the dresses she could’ve worn, I can’t believe Rachel actually chose this August Getty number. The colour is great on her, but the halter-top is very 1990’s and the material is awful… she hasn’t even sat down for the ceremony and it’s already all wrinkled!

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and please let me know if I forgot someone!
