Now that you’ve seen all our best & worst looks of the Golden Globes (if you haven’t, do it now:), here are the most important trends (good and bad) that we noticed on the red carpet!

BEST TRENDS: Feeling blue

Bryce Dallas Howard wasn’t the only actress that looked stunning in a deep blue dress… I also loved Kate Winslet (Ralph Lauren), Jenna Dewan (Zuhair Murad Couture) and Julianne Moore (Tom Ford).

BEST TRENDS: Taking the plunge

The plunging necklines were front and center on the red carpet last night… and the actresses that wore the edgy trend did it well! Loved Kristen Dunst (Valentino), Jaimie Alexander (Genny) and Taylor Schilling (Thakoon).

BEST TRENDS: Going for gold

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Atelier Versace), Eva Green (Elie Saab Couture) and Brie Larson (custom Calvin Klein) show us that gold is sometimes the best way to shine on the red carpet!

BEST TRENDS: White goddess

Lily James (Marchesa), Taraji P. Henson (Stella McCartney) and Saoirse Ronan (Yves Saint Laurent Couture) definitely all had a goddess moment last night!

ON THE FENCE: Love the bottom/hate the top

Leslie Mann (Monique L’Huillier) and Kate Hudson (Michael Kors) both got me confused last night… until I realized that I loved the bottom of their dresses, but hated the top! And what’s with the unnecessary chokers???

ON THE FENCE: Too… citrussy?

I love colour on a red carpet so I was happy to see America Ferrera (Jenny Packham), Amy Adams (Atelier Versace), Lola Kirke and Giulianna Rancic (Alex Perry)… but at the same time their dresses felt almost too bright. Do you know what I mean?

ON THE FENCE: Showing some shoulder…

I’ve always had a love and hate relationship with off-the-shoulder necklines… I love the idea of showing pretty shoulders, but then why not simply go for a strapless dress? They’re much less constraining! I’m sure that at the end of the night Gina Rodriguez (Zac Posen), Natalie Dormer (J. Mendel) and Rachel Bloom (H. Stern) all agreed with me!

WORST TRENDS: Ruffles

First of all, I’d like to say that I’m a huge fan of ruffles and the latest Alexander McQueen collection… which makes this even harder to understand! For Amanda Peet and Rooney Mara (both in Alexander McQueen), the main problem is really the depressing colours of the dresses, as for Jane Fonda (Yves Saint Laurent Couture)… the ruffled cape was just overpowering!

WORST TRENDS: Sequins gone wrong

Sequins are always a good idea for an award show… unless they look cheap like in Felicity Huffman (Lorena Sarbu) and Kate Bosworth (Dolce & Gabbana) dresses or like an armour! C’mon Regina King, you can’t tell me that this Krikor Jabotian dress is comfortable
