This weekend, I was in Toronto to attend the 1st ever Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards! An event that was created to celebrate the very best in Canadian fashion. In total, the CAFAs gave out 10 awards (you can see all the winners right here). Not only did I have the chance to be part of the inaugural nominating committee, but I also covered the whole night for FashioNation.tv.
Of course, I’ll let you know as soon as the footage is ready. But in the meantime, I want to share all the amazing fashion from the red carpet… here are all my favourite looks!
BEST DRESSED
Coco Rocha in DSquared
As soon as Coco Rocha stepped on the red carpet, I lost my breath and couldn’t take my eyes off her… and I probably wasn’t the only one! She looked absolutely stunning in this ivory DSquared gown! Not only was the draping fabulous, but I loved the matching brooch and earrings.
Chloe Rogers in Mary Katrantzou
Suzanne Rogers’ daughter Chloe was also a standout on the red carpet. She looked so pretty and fresh with this Mary Katrantzou Resort 2014 dress. LOVE the intricate print!
Jeanne Beker in DSquared
It was going to be a big night for Jeanne Beker and I loved how she stayed true to her style with a simple and modern LBD by DSquared. She added the wow factor with a beautiful brooch and amazing shoes!
Christie Smythe and Andrea Lenczner in Smythe
The designers behind Smythe gave us their own interpretation of the women’s tuxedo, and they complemented each other perfectly. Cool and sooo effortless!
And… the fabulous CAFA women!
I have to complete my best dressed list with the women that made CAFA happen: Susan Hart (left), Vicky Millner (middle), Brittney Kuczynski (right) and two of the most important fashion ambassadors: philanthropist Sylvia Mantella and Suzanne Rogers. The 5 women looked absolutely beautiful on the red carpet and there was no way I could make a choice!
BEST HAIR & MAKEUP
Yasmine Warsame takes best hair with her architectural afro. Those curls are to die for!
My fave makeup of the night goes to Coco Rocha… Of course her skin was flawless, but I also love the exaggerated cat eye and beautiful bright lips!
BEST TREND: SHORT & CHIC
Not everybody wore gowns and it was great… Here are the best examples of why shorter hems can be just as chic! I especially love publicist Tara Hendela‘s (left) puffy sleeves and Fashion magazine Editor-in-Chief Bernadette Morra‘s (middle) cobalt peplum dress! Both are actually wearing Greta Constantine.
BEST TREND: COLOUR
It was snowy and cold in Toronto but that didn’t stop guests from wearing colour! How gorgeous are these bright and pastel hues…
BEST COUPLES
Kimberley Newport-Mimran and Joe Mimran
As expected, the ultimate fashion power couple looked perfectly chic on the red carpet. Kimberley wore an effortless shirt dress from her upcoming Pink Tartan collection and Joe opted for a fresh suit with a double-breasted tuxedo blazer.
Ben and Jessica Mulroney
I love how the ET host coordinated his look to his lovely wife’s tangerine dress by simply adding a Bustle printed vest. Colourful and fun!
Talking about duos… it was hard not to notice the « twin effect » last night at the CAFA Awards! This is what we call some Seriously Stylish Siblings…
Dean & Dan Caten from DSquared
Dexter and Byron Peart from WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie
Caillianne and Samantha Beckerman from Beckerman Blog
Looking at all the completely different styles on the red carpet, the only thing left to say is that Canadian style is a force to be reckoned with!
Before I let you go, here’s my own look! I was wearing a Denis Gagnon jumper and choker (the rest of the bling is all my jewelry)
Lolitta xx
pssst… Don’t forget to check out all the evening’s big winners right here!
