To celebrate International Women’s Day, and for being people who either inspire, support, or truly just make me smile… I have organized a Vanity Fair inspired photoshoot by the fabulous photographer of the National Ballet, Sasha Onyshchenko.
This is the invitation I received from friend and photographer Monique Weston. A few days later, I joined 28 women of all origins, backgrounds, fields and ages for a little afternoon shoot that ended up being pretty epic…
As mentioned, the project was initiated by photographer (and the most dynamic/loveable woman I know) Monique Weston and shot by the talented Sasha Onyshchenko, who also happens to be the official photographer of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (so let’s say he knows one thing or two about grace). I’m starting with them because the duo is really the reason why the images turned out so great! Monique was there to direct us, make us feel comfortable (and respect the schedule;) and Sasha simply saw the beauty in all of us. When I look at the 29 women in these pictures, I see true beauty, but also personality shinning through… and that’s pretty amazing!
We were all placed in small groups, and I was lucky enough to be shot with the amazing blogger/photographer Carrie Macpherson, PR queen Tuti Do and cooking coach Priscila Stewart. I love how different we are, but how beautifully we fit together.
March 8th is very important to me, because it’s International Women’s Day, but also because 8 years ago today, the tumour I had in my breast was removed. I still remember how happy I was when I found out the date of my surgery, to me it was just a sign of things to come… which is still being cancer free!
Before I let you go, I absolutely want to share a few candid (and not so candid) moments that will give you an idea of the energy and the love that filled the studio last Sunday.
On this important day, I just want to remind us that we are so much stronger when we support each other. It’s not always easy to do because sometimes we find ourselves in competitive situations, but I know for a fact that there’s a place for all of us to fulfill our purpose in life. Thank you again for this wonderful experience Monique & Sasha!
