My red carpet coverage continues with the the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, held last night in Los Angeles. Like they do every year, the stars attended in full force! Let’s start things off with my best dressed of the event…
BEST DRESSED
1. January Jones in Prabal Gurung
We hadn’t seen a good look from January Jones in a few months, but I have to say I love this black & white tuxedo-inspired dress. I especially love the way the top part finishes on her neck!
2. Claires Danes in Givenchy
When I first saw Claire Danes in this Givenchy number, I wasn’t sure about the white geometric prints decorating the skirt. But the more I looked at it, the more I loved the cut of the dress and the asymmetrical sleeve!
3. Kerry Washington in Rodarte
There’s two things I love about this dress: the stunning rigid corset and the delicate lace at the hem!
4. Jaimie Alexander in Marc Bouwer
Usually I’m not crazy about this type of draping… but in this case, I love how the dress falls and that killer neckline!
5. Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen
I can’t deny it… there’s something about a red head wearing red that I just find irresistible (but I’m not crazy about the necklace)!
And I have to add a special mention to Freida Pinto, who looked soo pretty in a hot pink Roland Mouret draped dress!
BEST TREND OF THE NIGHT: BLUE
Amidst the sea of black, white and black & white dresses, stood a few blue gowns that were pretty striking! I love the richness and the elegance of the colour, which we don’t see enough on the red carpet!
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior / Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood / Giuliana Rancic in Max Azria Atelier / Amanda Seyfried in Zac Posen
BEST MAN
I had a hard time deciding who was my favourite man of the night… so you need to help me! Do you prefer Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford or Eddie Redmayne in Hugo Boss.
BATTLE OF THE METALLICS
Jennifer Garner (in Oscar de la Renta) and Helen Hunt (in Romona Keveza) wore almost identical looks, but in different metallic shades. Which one would you wear… gold or silver?
TEENAGERS: THE GOOD AND THE BAD
Kiernan Shipka shows us how to do red carpet « teenager style »… with an adorable Oscar de la Renta dress! Unfortunately, Ariel Winter misses her shot with this Alex Perry princessy ball gown that gives her weird arms and bust.
WORST TREND OF THE NIGHT: LACE
Here are three good reasons you shouldn’t wear lace from head to toe… courtesy of Edie Falco, Angela Kinsey and Mayim Bialik.
WORST DRESSED
1. Morena Baccarin in Basil Soda
High slit + sheer panels + printed chiffon train…this is just too busy, and sooo unflattering!
2. Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan
I have a hard time believing this is Donna Karan! The shiny material, the tacky cut and that neckline… that makes her look like she has asymmetrical boobs.
3. Kaley Cuoco in Romona Keveza
This dress could’ve been so pretty on a taller woman, but on Kaley Cuoco, it just makes her look as if she stood 4 feet tall… Not great!
4. Juliana Margolies in Chado Ralph Rucci
The idea of this dress was interesting but unfortunately, the top part looks cheap, the slit is weirdly positioned and those graphic sandals are just awful!
5. Anne Hathaway in Giambattista Valli
I love Anne Hathaway, I love Giambattista Valli, but in this situation the marriage is just not working. I don’t like the length of the dress or the sheer top (the bustier alone would’ve been so much better).
So those are my thoughts… but what do YOU think? Did I forget any looks? Let me know!
