You know I can’t just give you the Best & Worst Dressed when I cover a red carpet event, I also like to see what trends stood out. Being a teen-oriented award show, the looks were, of course, very young… and very short! Still, a few trends like bright colours, ballerina-inspired and bold prints are also worth mentioning.
BIGGEST TRENDS
1. Bright Colours
The strong vivid hues were definitely the biggest trend of the night. From pretty fuchsia to electric blue, the stars gave us all the colours of the rainbow!

2. Ballerina-inspired
One of the prettiest trends I noticed last night was the ethereal ballerina-inspired dresses… that gave just the right amount of innocence to the girls who decided to try it.

3. Pretty shiny things
What I liked about the shiny trend at last night’s award show is that the young stars didn’t just go for the usual sequinned dress (well Hayden did, but at least the colour was interesting) instead, Lea went for a very pretty rose pattern in a silver thread and Miranda wore a Paco Rabanne inspired chain mail-like dress.

4. Great prints
We all know that prints are big this season, so it wasn’t a surprise to see so many at the Teen Choice Awards. What surprised me though, was the quality of the prints. I especially love Carly Rae Jepsen’s palm trees and New Girl‘s Hannah Simone’s BEAUTIFUL flower print!

4b. Prints gone wrong!
Unfortunately, prints can also turn really bad… 1)When the pattern is actually ugly 2)When your whole body (except your tummy) is covered with it and 3)When you make the print even busier by adding feathers and mesh panels… at the wrong places.

There you go! So what was your favourite trend at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards?
