The People’s Choice Awards is the 1st official red carpet of the year, but let’s be honest… it’s the Golden Globes we’re all waiting for to start the awards season red carpet coverage! To me, yesterday’s event was not as interesting as last year’s, but there’s still a lot to say… starting with my Best Dressed!
BEST DRESSED
1- Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé
It was a very good night for Cate Blanchett… Not only did she win Best Actress, but she also beat everybody on the red carpet! I love everything about this dress; the sheerness, the cut, the delicate neckline… and her hair & makeup were perfect!
2- Lena Dunham in Zac Posen
I usually can’t find words to describe how bad Lena Dunham’s style is, but this time I have to give it to her… she looked absolutely stunning in Zac Posen! The yellow mermaid dress hugged her curvy body perfectly and we can see that she felt amazing!
3- Olivia Wilde in Gucci
It’s not easy to dress for the red carpet when you’re expecting, but Olivia Wilde shows us how it’s done with this emerald green sequinned Gucci dress that covers her entire body while magnifying her pretty bump!
4- Emma Roberts in Lanvin
I’m not Emma Robert’s biggest fan, but last night she had everything right! From the neckline to the train, her mermaid Lanvin dress was beautiful… and those chandelier earrings are just to die for!
5- Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren
As soon as I saw this dress, I thought about the Tom Ford dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore at the 2012 Oscars… and once again, I was smitten. There’s something about the integrated cape that is just so glamorous and elegant!
Very well done also… Laura Dern in Roberto Cavalli
I have to add Laura Dern to the list because she looked absolutely beautiful in this Roberto Cavalli gown that perfectly complemented her hair & makeup. If Ben Harper has seen this picture, he must be eating his heart out…
Here are all the other good dresses of the night…

BEST TRENDS
Pregnancy glow
Olivia Wilde wasn’t the only one who rocked her baby bump last night… Kerry Washington (Balenciaga) and Drew Barrymore (Monique Lhuillier) also gave us amazing future-mommy looks!
Almost nude
Looks like blonde + nude was the perfect combination last night! Anna Gunn (Donna Karan Atelier), Robin Wright (Reem Acra) and Naomi Watts (Tom Ford) all opted for dresses that almost melted on their fair complexions.
Classic B&W
Another of my favourite trends was definitely the black and white dresses that Laura Carmichael (Viktor and Rolf), Allison Williams (Alexander McQueen), Zosia Mamet (Reem Acra) and Jenna Dewan (Roberto Cavalli) wore on the red carpet. Classic and so modern!
WORST TRENDS
Seeing red
I usually love a red dress, but not everybody looked as good as Lupita Nyong’o… While Berenice Bejo (Giambattista Valli) just looked uncomfortable, Julie Delpy‘s dress (Romona Keveza) was ill-fitting and Amy Adams’ Valentino gown was way too simple for the event.
Too old to play Princess
Didn’t celebrities notice that princess gowns usually get them on the worst dressed list? What were you thinking Michelle Dockery (Oscar de la Renta), Giuliana Rancic (Lorena Sarbu) and Kaley Cuoco (Rani Zakhem Couture)?
WORST DRESSED
1- Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung
Recently, I’ve been giving a lot of praise to Sandra Bullock for letting go of black and wearing colours… but last night her choice was a complete disaster! The prom-like Prabal Gurung dress may be perfect for Barbie, but not for Sandra!
2- Edie Falco
Hummm… where should I start… the material is unforgiving, the giant bow is horrendous and the fit is just awful!
3- Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior
I was struggling to describe how bad this dress was until my friend Wajih sent me this hilarious montage… when your dress looks like a cleaning tool, there’s a problem!
4- Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera
Tina Fey didn’t only make the princess error… she also made the curtain mistake! #majorfail
5- Uma Thurman in Atelier Versace
I have 3 questions for Uma Thurman: what is that swirl print? Didn’t we stop wearing that neckline in 1992? Is it really Versace?
As I mentioned before, this was definitely not my fave Golden Globe red carpet…. here are a few other reasons why!
